BURNLEY LOSE TO LEICESTER

Kieran Trippier’s club, Burnley, has been defeated by Leicester City in a Championship match at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday. Burnley lost that match by a close margin of 2-1. The Leicester team was down by 1-0 at one point of time, but, Nigel Pearson’s boys made a fantastic comeback and won the match eventually. The performance of the Leicester team hasn’t been up to the mark in the ongoing season. The team had played 5 Championship matches before coming into this match and the team had lost 3 of them. So, this victory would have given a bit of relief to Nigel Pearson.

Dean Marney was the one who took Burnley ahead in the 10th minute of the match. Martin Paterson assisted the goal and Marney blasted the ball into the right hand corner of the net. Burnley managed to maintain the lead till the end of the first half. But, the Leicester players came into the second half with all guns blazing. David Nugent scored the leveller in the second minute of the second half. That was a powerful volley and the ball flew past the Burnley goalie into the bottom corner of the net. Just 10 minutes later, Jamie Vardy scored the second goal for Leicester. Anthony Knockaert set up the goal by giving Vardy a cross right at the edge of the box and Vardy smashed the ball into the left hand corner of the net.

After the match, Pearson said that it was nice to see the boys performing well under pressure. The team has struggled at times in the current season, but, in this match, the players were up to the task. Leicester City will play its next match against Hull City at the same venue on 23rd of September.
