Burnley have been one of the standout is the Championship this season and they are odds-on favourite to win the title. Despite this, manager Sean Dyche is not preparing to relax in the upcoming international break. He plans to use this week in order to look at some of his transfer targets for January. Burnley are top of the table after 15 matches season, but they only holding a slender advantage over the likes of Leicester City and QPR. Hence, they need to be on their toes in order to win the division and gain promotion back to the Premier league.
The club will not have much money to spend in January after they recently revealed an operating loss of £ 8 million. This, however, is unlikely to prevent the manager from not trying to strengthen his squad. He is most likely to do this by bringing in a few loan players and free transfers. Some of the best players this season have so far come as free transfers for the club in the summer. Dyche is planning to do a repeat of the same in January as well.
Burnley are defeated in the last five matches, but they have also not won in the last two. It has allowed the likes of Leicester and QPR to close the gap.
“We’ve got a very good group and we want to add to that when we can. If we can search through the market while we’re having a break, that will be helpful as well. This [break] will be a valuable one because the players have put in a lot of effort and there’s been a lot of quality in their play. We have got a small squad and we have to make sure they’re in good shape,” said the manager ahead of the international break.
